I think the morning traffic line at Turner High School needs to be changed. The flow of traffic can be managed much better!
Imagine you wake up late and you are rushing to school. You get there in time, but then you’re stuck in a very long line. This line will cause you to be late and get a tardy. Who wants to keep getting tardies? Tardies lead to detentions and suspensions, which nobody wants.
Turner High School faces a chaotic and annoying traffic line during drop-off and pick-up times. As a student, I’ve personally experienced this annoying line and poorly managed system. I know I’m not alone.
If you’ve ever woken up late, rushed to get to school, and then must sit in an unmovable line of cars, you would understand the anxiety it causes! Even if you arrive on time, sometimes you can end up in this line that could make you late, leading to tardies.
The current system at the High School is ineffective and causes more harm than good. The line stretches out so far, creating a problem for everybody involved. Traffic comes to a standstill for students, parents, and faculty members. For students, these risks being late to class and being tardy and facing discipline.
The solution for this is simple. What I propose is instead of the SRAs controlling the flow, the line should be directed to the right and then circled around which keeps the line moving. Kids would branch off the line to get into parking spots while keeping the line moving at a steady pace. This would allow for cars to move more efficiently as drivers can drop off their kids without causing a standstill. Keeping the SRAs would help guide the flow and just ensure that everybody follows the new system.
This new system could potentially fix the long line wait. This would make everybody happy, as they don’t have to sit in a long stand still line. I think the school should test this idea and see how it manages. The kids would make it on time leading to less tardies, and less punishments.
Overall, the high school faces an issue with kids being late, and they just get punished without being able to do anything. The line causes this issue which isn’t the kids’ fault, and they shouldn’t be punished for it. The school implementing a more effective traffic system would relieve these problems, and ensure students are on time.
