About

The Turner High Newspaper has been in publication for over 40 years!

The Black and Gold Philosophy
The newspaper’s purpose is to report the issues, events, and topics of the school and community that affect the school population. The newspaper, which prepares future journalists, recognizes all rights and responsibilities under the First Amendment. Staff members will professionally and ethically produce the newspaper. Student staff members will encourage constructive criticism, but hold the final say of the content in the newspaper. Students will not publish material considering to be legally unprotected speech, libel, obscenity, material disruption of the educational process, copyright infringement or unwarranted invasion of privacy.

The Black and Gold Policies
• The responsibilities for content and production of the paper rest with the student staff. The newspaper operates as a public forum where students make all decisions regarding content.
• The staff agrees to respect the rules and regulations as established in the Turner High School Student Handbook.
• Opinions expressed on the editorial/opinion page do not necessarily reflect the viewpoints or official policies of the school administration.
• Students who are interviewed for any Booster story should be made aware beforehand that their name will be published in the school newspaper.
